Sen. John Thune pledged to preserve the filibuster and bring appropriations bills to the floor in his first remarks as the new Senate majority leader.
“One of my priorities as leader will be to ensure that the Senate stays the Senate,” Thune (R-S.D.) said Friday on the floor. “That means preserving the legislative filibuster – the Senate rule that today has perhaps the greatest impact in preserving the Founders’ vision of the United States Senate.”
