Transit and housing funds would be slashed in favor of more spending for aviation under a Republican spending bill headed to the House floor.
The House Appropriations Committee voted 35-28 to advance the fiscal 2026 Transportation-HUD spending bill Thursday after hours of Democrats’ bashing the measure, even though they secured a few amendments. Republicans amended their bill during the marathon markup to add a provision to prohibit federal funds from being used on congestion pricing in New York, among other changes.
