The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee advanced Lynda Blanchard’s nomination to represent US priorities in agriculture and nutrition policy abroad with an 11-10 party-line vote Wednesday.

  • Blanchard now awaits full Senate vote as GOP changes chamber rules to circumvent Democrats jamming up political appointee confirmations
  • If confirmed as President Donald Trump’s pick for ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture, Blanchard would fill role vacated by Biden administration’s Jeffrey Prescott
  • Blanchard is currently business affairs vice president for Ascent Residential, LLC, a property management company
  • Blanchard was US ambassador to Slovenia during first Trump administration
