US House Lawmakers Reject Iran War Powers Effort in Tied Vote

The US House on Thursday narrowly rejected an effort to stop the war in Iran and remove US troops from the region as lawmakers from both parties signal wariness of the tenuous ceasefire and US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

The House voted 212-212 to reject the resolution (H.Con.Res 75) sponsored by Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), which called for an end of US involvement in Iran within 30 days unless Congress declares war or authorizes the operations. Three Republicans voted for the resolution.
