The coalition of protesters and journalists that brought one of the highest-profile suits related to the Trump administration’s Chicago-area immigration crackdown has agreed to dismiss the case, according to a motion filed Tuesday.
“Operation Midway Blitz” appears to have wound down such that it’s no longer necessary to pursue the case challenging federal agents’ use of force against demonstrators, clergy, and journalists, the motion says.
Hundreds of Customs and Border Protection agents under command of defendant Gregory Bovino are no longer in Chicago, and attorneys haven’t received any reports of “unconstitutional behavior” since Nov. 8, the motion states.
