Republican Nick Begich unseated Rep. Mary Peltola (D) in Alaska’s at-large Congressional District, the Associated Press said Wednesday.
Begich, a software executive from a family of prominent Alaska Democrats, won in his second go for the state’s only House seat thanks to former Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) absence from the race. Neither leading candidate won an outright majority on the first ballot, triggering tabulation Wednesday of the second choices of minor candidates’ supporters.
