House Subcommittee Approves Transportation, Housing Budget Bill

A House subcommittee Thursday approved draft legislation funding transportation and housing programs while reallocating billions in previously approved spending supported by Democrats.

The Department of Transportation will receive $28.3 billion and the Department of Housing and Urban Development would get $71.38 billion under the proposal. President Donald Trump floated $26.6 billion and $73.5 billion, respectively, for the agencies in a budget request unveiled in April.

The full House Appropriations Committees is scheduled to consider the legislation on June 4 following the Thursday subcommittee mark-up.
